Volunteering

A Village Needs Villagers

It is often said that it takes a village to raise a child, but a village can only thrive if there are villagers. We are all at Edmonton Classical Academy because we believe in an education rooted in history, wisdom, and enduring values. Yet history does not appear fully formed; it begins with people who are willing to invest their time, talents, and hearts into something greater than themselves. This school’s vision comes to life through dedicated parents who see what ECA can become and choose to contribute through small, meaningful acts of volunteering. When we give our time, we strengthen not only the school, but the community that surrounds our children. Our village grows strong only when we choose to invest in it together.

Committees

Committees have been born gradually to fulfill our school needs.  They report on their activities at school council meetings and meet outside of school council meetings to complete their assigned tasks.

Current Committees are run by enthusiastic members of our community who are pouring their heart and soul for the betterment of our students' education. Our current active committees are:

Hot Lunch Committee

The Hot Lunch Committee supports an important fundraiser for the Fundraising Society by providing students with nutritious lunches from restaurants around the city through Healthy Hunger. To make this possible, we rely on many volunteers to help distribute lunches at midday—many hands are needed to serve many students in a short period.

Playpod Committee

The Playpod is an activity center that gives our children a fun and engaging place to play while we continue fundraising for a new playground. To keep it thriving, we need a variety of seasonal play items and someone to help organize, distribute, and maintain them.

Library Committee

A strong library is vital to a classical education, fostering a love of learning and providing lasting academic foundations, and building one requires years of dedication. While Mrs. Schauer has taken on this important work as our librarian, a committee supports her in organizing, systemizing, and building a library worthy of our school.

Appreciation and Support Committee

Our teachers and school support team have taken on a massive undertaking by joining our school, where they are asked to do more with less than in a public school setting. This team exists to show our appreciation and ensure our teachers know how deeply we value their dedication and the care they give to our children.

School Concerts Committee

Classical music is an essential part of a classical education, and our school is blessed with a strong and vibrant music program. To showcase this, we host 2-3 concerts each year, but with most of our students participating, these events require significant planning, organization, and support to bring them to life.

Movie and Games Committee

Our children naturally want to socialize and build friendships, but with students coming from all corners of the city, those opportunities can be hard to create. The Movie & Games Committee organizes a few events each year to give students meaningful chances to socialize and put their virtues into practice in a social setting.
