Drive Lane Instructions

Our Top 3 Priorities Guiding Traffic Flow
#1 Student Safety
Ensuring students can safely navigate a busy parking lot to find their vehicles or board their buses.
#2 On-Time Bus Access
Ensuring buses can enter and exit the school safely and on schedule without being blocked by other vehicles.
#3 Fair Vehicle Flow
Managing traffic from both directions on 76 Avenue as fairly and efficiently as possible while maintaining safety and bus access.

Where To Park
Understanding the difference between parking spaces and the active drive lane helps prevent congestion.
Designated parking spaces
Follow the marked parking layout. Use parallel parking where indicated and perpendicular parking only in designated stalls.
78th Avenue
If you need to leave your vehicle to walk to the school, please park along 78 Avenue where parking is permitted.
West-Side Parking Area
Vehicles parked in the small west-side jut-out area may become blocked in during afternoon pick-up.
Bus Lanes & Crosswalks
Never park in the bus lanes during school hours or block designated pedestrian crossings.

Drive Line: How It Works
Between 7:55am-8:15am & 3-3:45 p.m., the pick-up lane is an active loading area, not a parking lot.
1.
Enter when clear or directed
Follow traffic supervisors' instructions and wait for their signal before proceeding.
2.
Pull forward as far as possible
Keep moving into available space so more families can enter the drive lane.
3.
Remain with your vehicle
Do not park and leave your vehicle unattended in the active pick-up lane between 7:55 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. & 3 p.m.- 3:45 p.m.
4.
Pick up at the designated location
Students are escorted to the northwest corner of the property. Do not pick up students before the first crosswalk.
5.
Keep traffic moving safely
If an unattended vehicle blocks the lane, safely proceed around it only when there is sufficient space and it is safe to do so

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
When vehicles are left unattended or drivers stop too early, the drive lane fills unnecessarily. This causes traffic to back up onto 76 Avenue and makes it harder for buses, families, and pedestrians to move safely.

Understanding Our Traffic Supervisors
Our supervisors have a broader view of approaching vehicles, buses, and pedestrians. Their directions are designed to keep everyone safe.
When In Doubt, STOP
Remain stopped until a supervisor clearly directs you to proceed. Do not assume you may enter because their STOP sign is lowered or concealed.
Proceed only when directed.
Watch for the SLOW sign or clear instructions from the supervisor. Enter carefully and remain alert for changing conditions.
Why might someone else enter before me?
Traffic may approach from both directions on 76 Avenue. Supervisors try to accommodate arrival order when possible, but may need to alternate vehicles from either direction to manage congestion fairly.
Why do supervisors leave a gap at the entrance?
A clear gap must remain between the vehicles waiting to enter and those already inside the parking lot so school buses can turn in safely when they arrive.
Why are some vehicles given exceptions?
Vehicles supporting accessibility needs, volunteers, or other authorized purposes may require access to designated stalls near the school. Please respect these arrangements and follow staff directions.

Keeping Students Safe
Use designated crosswalks
Never cross between vehicles. Teach children to use marked pedestrian crossings.
Obey crossing guards
Follow all instructions from crossing guards and traffic supervisors. Use additional caution when no guard is present.
Put your phone away
Stay attentive to vehicles, children, and directions from staff.
Slow down
Avoid speeding along 76 Avenue or through the school parking lot.
Buckle up
Ensure every passenger, including children, is properly secured before the vehicle moves.

Thank You For Doing Your Part
